Custom Steel Fence Installation: Quality Work You Can Count On

When curb appeal and long-term durability both matter, ornamental iron and steel fence installation is in a category of its own. At FenceMaxx, we design and install custom steel fences across Austin and Central Texas, from clean modern flat-top panels to intricately detailed ornamental steel that frames a property with presence. Every fence we build is powder-coated for weather resistance, precision-welded for structural integrity, and finished to look sharp for the long haul.

Whether you need a perimeter fence for a residential property, a decorative steel fence around a pool or garden, or a bold statement piece at a commercial entrance, FenceMaxx delivers the quality work and honest communication that Austin homeowners and businesses have trusted for years.

Built Right Every Time

Why Steel and Ornamental Iron Fencing?

Steel and ornamental iron fencing is one of the most durable, low-maintenance fencing options available, and one of the most visually commanding. Unlike wood, steel won’t rot, warp, or split over time. Unlike vinyl, it won’t flex under pressure or fade in the Texas sun. A properly installed steel fence adds lasting value to a property while requiring very little upkeep beyond the occasional rinse and touch-up coat.

Ornamental steel takes that foundation a step further. With custom picket profiles, spear-top or pressed-point caps, scrollwork, and arched gate options, ornamental steel fencing is as much about aesthetics as it is about security. It’s a material that suits historic neighborhoods in Central Austin just as well as it suits new construction in the suburbs, and FenceMaxx installs both. Our standard residential systems use 5/8″ 18-gauge pickets, 1″ 16-gauge rails, and 2×2 16-gauge posts, and our typical commercial systems step up to 3/4″ 16-gauge pickets, 1 1/2″ 14-gauge rails, and 2 1/2″ to 3″ 14-gauge posts for larger-scale applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between steel fencing and wrought iron fencing?

Traditional wrought iron is rarely used in modern fencing. Most ornamental iron fences today are fabricated from mild steel or tubular steel, which offers comparable strength at a lower cost and with easier customization. The terms “wrought iron fence” and “ornamental iron fence” are often used interchangeably in the industry. FenceMaxx installs steel-based ornamental fencing that delivers the same classic look associated with traditional iron at a more practical price point.

Most residential steel fence installations generally take one to three days as an estimate, depending on linear footage, terrain, and gate complexity, though smaller projects can move faster and larger or more complicated ones may take longer. Ornamental steel projects with custom fabrication may require additional lead time. We’ll give you a clear timeline during your free estimate.

Steel fencing is one of the lowest-maintenance options available. Our powder-coated finishes are specifically chosen for durability in the Texas climate, resistant to UV fading, rust, and chipping. Routine cleaning and an occasional touch-up to nicks or scratches is all it takes to keep your fence looking sharp for years.

Absolutely. We can build new panels and gates that match the profile, rail configuration, and finish of your existing fencing, or we can design a complementary style if a perfect match isn’t available. We’ll review your current setup during the consultation.

Yes. FenceMaxx installs steel and ornamental steel fencing for both residential and commercial properties across Austin and Central Texas. Commercial projects, including perimeter fencing, parking area fencing, and decorative entrance fencing, are handled with the same attention to detail as our residential work.

Steel and Iron Gates

A steel fence is only as strong as its gate. FenceMaxx fabricates and installs matching steel and ornamental steel gates, from standard single-swing pedestrian gates to custom arched double gates with decorative metalwork. Every gate is welded for rigidity, hung on heavy-duty hardware, and adjusted for smooth, long-term operation. Driveway gate and automated gate options are also available.
